Sustainable Farming Consultancy

SNOWY

MOUNTAINS

Snowy Mountains is a specialist in agribusiness management, advisory and consultancy. The company provides independent farm management & advisory services to clients while focusing 100% on maintaining the highest level of environmental friendliness and sustainability. Over the last 10 years, our focus has mainly been centered on Africa, where we have been observing great opportunity and tremendous potential - to the extend where we today are working on developing our own farming projects in Africa.

Snowy Mountain Limited is created by leading professionals in different fields of agriculture with the particular objective of assisting other farming operations across developing countries, by infusing highly efficient and long-achieved Australian farming experience and knowledge as a support basis. We try sharing our gained knowledge in all-round large scale farming projects especially in areas that have suffered from technological deficiency. Snowy Mountains will manage any types of farming operation i.e. on behalf of governments, corporations and/or private equity partners.

VISION

Our vision is to move from consultancy to actually being able to develop our own farming projects in Africa. we believe we can help tackle growing food security issues around the world - and we are intent to doing so by developing projects based on our own special blend of Australian know-how, experience and technology. Our projects will always aim at modernizing existing agricultural landscapes, focus on repairing supply chains by increased automation as well as economy of scale - and produce better products, thru higher, yields in countries where quality products and yields seem to be hard to come by. We pledge to do so by focusing on sustainability (clean farming) and safeguarding the well-being of our future generations.

PRODUCTIVITY & GROWTH
IN THE AGRICULTURAL
INDUSTRY IS CLOSELY
RELATED TO FARMING
SIZE

ECONOMY OF SCALE IS UNAVOIDABLE

Research has shown that productivity growth in the agricultural industry is closely related to size with the largest one third of farming businesses enjoying stronger productivity and growth.

At the larger scale, corporate agricultural businesses can afford to invest in solutions, employ specialist expertise in a myriad of disciplines such as livestock husbandry, agronomy, land development, irrigation design and development, marketing and investment planning, to cite just a few examples...

Access to a certain range of specialist skills can only be achieved cost effectively through scale and it is these specialist skills that Snowy Mountains focuses on to achieve above-average industry performances.

The “Snowy Mountains Management Model” captures both the innovation that drives productivity growth and the optimum scale it needs to be applied to - and we are able to do so by using no chemical inputs.

REAL FARMERS GROW SOIL, not CROPS

‘Producing more food with fewer resources may seem too good to be true, but the world’s farmers have trillions of potential partners that can help achieve that ambitious goal.’

Back in the 1940’s, we assumed that plant-life only consisted of macro-nutrients. We therefore assumed that it was fine to re-engineer a synthetic substitute for nature’s large need of NPK. Unfortunately, we were wrong. Plants and soil are actually very dependent of each other and the micro-nutrient, antioxidants and microbial web that surrounds this relation consists of many deep and complex layers,

Our future starts with our soil...

WORLD HUNGER IS GETTING ridiculous... THERE IS MORE FRUIT IN A RICH MAN'S SHAMPOO, THAN IN A POOR MAN'S PLATE.

It is shocking to look at the global achievements of our global food system in the 21st century. The majority of the world’s population still have sub‐optimal diets:

  • 1 billion people are still going to bed hungry

  • 2 billion people are still vulnerable to food and insecurity

  • 1 billion people still have diets which do not meet all their nutritional requirements

  • And 1 billion people still suffers from the effects of over‐consumption

PRECISION FARMING

Precision agriculture or satellite farming is a farming management concept based on observing, measuring and responding to inter and intra-field variability in crops. Crop variability typically has both a spatial and temporal component which makes statistical/computational treatments quite involved. The goal of precision agriculture research is to define a decision support system for full farm management with the goal of optimizing returns on inputs while preserving resources.

In order to manage large scale farming, as well as mechanized farming, we need to use technology and unique experience to realize maximum potential – this includes particularly having access to the best technology and machinery for the job.

With a register of preferred experts and suppliers we have access to specific specialist in all sectors of the industry and we offer all our corporate solutions to our agriculture clients; including initial assessment, planning options, budgeting and implementation.

We have also recently started working directly with investors.

CONVERTING TO

NON-CHEMICAL

INPUTS

Synthetic fertilizers were invented with good intentions in the second part of the 20th century. However, what is surprising is that they are still around – because they are the most polluting, dangerous and irresponsible products in the world today.

These products have been linked with an astounding number of cases of cancer, birth defects, allergies, and other disorders of the nervous, neurological, behavioral, hormone, reproductive, endocrine, and immune systems. They are responsible for thousands of death around the world, they endanger our children every day and they have the most devastating effect on our environment.

All this should be enough to have seen them gone years ago.

Most shocking might be the reason as to why these products are still around, because, incredibly, chemicals intensify the problems that they were created for in the first place. They form a vicious circle and farmers are condemned to use them more and more every time they use them.
